Latvia – A Terrorist State
We are not the system. We are the people
On 7 September 2026, we appealed to the leadership of a number of European states, members of the European Union and the United Nations, demanding that they stop the operations of certain enterprises engaged in the production and supply of weapons and ammunition to zones of military conflict. Among those to whom our demands were addressed was the Government of Latvia.
Our organization has not carried out any forceful actions on the territory of Latvia, and we gave the local government the opportunity to voluntarily put an end to the activities of enterprises contributing to the escalation of military conflicts and bearing responsibility for the deaths of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people.
Instead, the Government of Latvia chose the path of repression, initiating criminal cases against our organization and persecuting our supporters.
Local politicians and the law-enforcement agencies serving their interests believe that they can choose the path of terror and intimidate their own citizens, who do not want very much - simply to live in peace and not be afraid of tomorrow.
Do we have the right to demand that those politicians to whom we have delegated the right to govern states govern not only in our name, but also in our interests, stop the arms race, halt the supply of ammunition to zones of military conflict, and reorient the economy primarily toward the needs of the population? Yes, we do, and it is precisely this right that we exercised. Did politicians and security forces have the right to call us terrorists and persecute our activists merely because we demand the closure of industries that pose a threat to the inhabitants of this planet? No, they do not have such a right, because for them the expressed will of citizens is a direct instruction for action.
Given the fact that the leadership of Latvia has chosen the path of terror and repression, we have every right to call this country a terrorist state. To call it so until the regime on its territory changes and nationally oriented political elites come to power, placing the interests of their own citizens above those of businessmen from the military-industrial complex.
Despite what is happening on the territory of Latvia, our demands remain unchanged, with one exception. We now demand not only the closure of the enterprises specified above, but also an end to the persecution of all GCAW1984 activists on the territory of this country, as well as the release of those who have already been detained and against whom criminal cases are currently being fabricated.
7 October is approaching. And we will not stand on ceremony with those who have chosen the path of terror and decided that they can break us.
We cannot be broken.
Because we are not the system.
We are the people.
